I know for me, having the time to go through the full process is rare with all the projects I have and the time constraints. After a while of this, it starts to feel like I am doing more production than design. Then I start to feel dull creatively.
When I first started in design (20 years ago ๐ณ), I would find a new tutorial or project to work on almost every night. That was the time in my life when I felt the sharpest and creative. This year, I am trying to get back to the basics. Make more time for discovery, exploration, and iteration. Looking at more magazines and spending more time exploring Behanced and sites like that. I have rediscovered Pinterest in a real way lol. Working on moodboards in Milanote, spending more time with XD and Figma. I feel like it is starting to help me get out of my design funk.
Every now and then, I have to remind myself that creativity is like a muscle. It gets weak when we arenโt spending time using and pushing it. I would encourage every creative, no matter how hectic your schedule or workload, to take some time to revisit the process and find ways to rejuvenate your creative muscle. You wonโt believe how much of a difference it will make in your creativity.
