I’m Bringing Dressy Back

Feb 1, 2024 | Fashion, Work Culture

Every Tuesday I would wear a bow tie to work, but since 2020 I can count on one hand how often that’s happened. In a new world filled with Zoom and Teams calls, where pants are optionional (if you even turn your camera on at all), for the past few months I have been striving to step my dress game up. I can honestly say that I’ve already started to feel a difference.

Dressing better has made me feel better. I feel like I’m finally stepping out of the fog that 2020 left us in and reconnecting with myself. Don’t get me wrong you can still catch me in sweats on a regular basis, but overall I have stepped it up. From my beard to the accessories I wear, I have put more effort into myself, even when my wife’s the only one who sees me.

With all the new ways to connect to our fellow humans, I’ve felt more and more disconnected. Spending more time on myself, at the very least has given me a reason to turn my camera on during meetings and attempt to better connect to the people on the other side of the screen. I would encourage everyone to give it a try at least for a week and see if it makes you feel any different.
