Short Story Long

That Would Make a Great Podcast!

While working with Beki Fraser on another project, she shared an idea for a book she never published, one centered on the inflection points in her life and the lessons they taught her. She worried it felt too autobiographical for print, but to me, it sounded like the start of a powerful podcast.

As a business and leadership coach, author, and entrepreneur, Beki already had a strong foundation. Our goal was to create a show that complemented her coaching practice and positioned her book, C.O.A.C.H. Y.O.U.: The Introverted Skeptic’s Guide to Leadership, as part of a larger brand ecosystem.

What We Built

Season 1  focused on key turning points in Beki’s life. Using her expertise as a leadership coach, she reflected on each moment and offered insights listeners could apply to their own journeys.

As the show evolved in Season 2, the format expanded to include interviews with guests from a variety of backgrounds. Each conversation explores a significant life or career shift, followed by a solo segment where Beki steps into coach mode to break down what listeners can take away.

To deepen the learning, every other episode is a Skill Builder. These solo episodes pull out a core theme from the previous interview and offer practical tools for becoming a more intentional and effective leader.

The Results

Short Story Long has become more than just a podcast, it’s a marketing funnel, a thought leadership platform, and a deeply fulfilling extension of Beki’s work. It connects her audience to her book, builds awareness of her coaching services, and offers a new way for her to share her voice, wisdom, and presence.

My Role

  • Show Concept Development
  • Title, Format, and Story Structure
  • Strategy Integration with Existing Brand and Book
  • Episode Planning, Production, Editing, and Coaching
  • Season Planning and Evolution Strategy

This project was about more than just launching a podcast. It was about building something that aligned with Beki’s voice, values, and business. My role was to help shape a show that felt authentic to her story, delivered value to her audience, and created space for meaningful reflection and growth. Together, we turned an unrealized book idea into a dynamic, purpose-driven platform.
